Description

Collins Engineers is looking for an energetic, highly motivated, self-starter to join our Virginia Beach/Newport News, VA team as an Engineering Technician Diver. You will have the opportunity to work on above and below water structural inspections. You will coordinate and/or assist in field operations. You will be responsible for assisting in the inspection of existing structures in order to determine their physical condition, maintenance needs and potential hazards. Travel will be expected. You must be ADCI certified and have at least 2 years of diving and inspection experience to qualify for this role.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs inspection/field work
  • If applicable, conducts underwater inspections of existing structures
  • Ensures equipment is maintained and in proper location
  • Knowledgeable of construction and inspection practices
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering documents
  • Assists in the completion of reports
  • Knows how to perform his/her duties safely

Qualifications


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A minimum of 2 years of inspection experience. Majority of time is spent in the field and could involve working weekends and overnight. 

  • Underwater inspection experience for bridges or other waterfront facilities, if applicable
  • Bridge and sign inspection experience
  • CAD experience a plus
  • Open Water Dive Certification preferred
  • A valid driver's license.
